Another 12 hours, 2nd one in the three, late turn & clean the train on night shift.
I done a litter pick up & empty bins on the 1400 Norwich thorpe to London Liverpool Street, because the LHCS set, that was used for this service was late into to Norwich, it was very dirty, two bags a coach.
I hope today is a bit less trash, as there was a lot on Saturday, football & near Christmas, today is the first day of Liverpool Street being closed, I do not know much about that.

Columbo: It's All in the Game (1993) (TV)

Columbo - "It's All In The Game" (1967)"It's All In The Game" (1993). Season:, 11, Episode - 1 ... Love proves Columbo's toughest adversary when he begins to fall for the charms of the alluring ...

Now watching the above, one link says 1967, but it was 1993.
After, on the Hallmark channel (Virgin NTL 190) is A Bird in the Hand from 1300 to 1500 hours.
But i will not watch that, as I am going to work on the 1400 train to Colchester, to get to Ipswich.

There will be no trains between Liverpool Street and Stratford between 23rd December and 1st January 2008 inclusive, as a result of major engineering work on the approach lines to the station, in connection with the extension of TfL’s East London line. During this period, Network Rail will take the opportunity to undertake a number of major engineering works on the Liverpool Street approaches, as well as projects affecting Stratford and Shenfield. View the route map to see how your journey will be affected
So a trip from Ipswich or more north down the line, it a bus from Colchester to Liverpool Street, but if you from Colchester, then train to Ingatestone, bus to Newbury Park Underground station, then Underground to Liverpool Street.
On the Southend line to Bilericay, need to change to bus from Bilericay to Laindon, for train on 'C2C' to Fenchurch Street (This is going to renamed 'National Express East Anglia').
From Cambridge, change at Seven Sisters, for London Underground Victoria Line.
Chingford, change at Walthamstow Central, for victoria Line London Underground.
Southminster, change at Wickford for coach to Pitsea, C2C train to Fenchurch Street
I could go on forever, as some day, it changes too.

Another 12 hour shift, a bit busy today, the line from Bury StEdmunds to Ely (& Peterborough) was reopened Thursday around 1500, but today, the first 'OME' train used the line again, after a long time.
But the 170's DMU was only going as far (or from) Ipswich today, EMU's (360's & 321's) was used on the Ipswich to Liverpool Street part of the service until about 1700 hours.
This was a lot more work for cleaning, with eight coach trains, plus could not water the DMU's.

I got everything done, just a little harder than I did think, but something was done to all the train, even it was just a pick up trash & empty bins.
I got the dealyed last train back, was in norwich about 0205 hours.

Better be going to bed now, a bit late, or early ?

Another day at work, 0730 to 1430 at Ipswich.
I was very sleepy, when I got home, went to bed for a few hours (did some shopping at Morrisons).

I think in the early days of Anglia, the 2100 Norwich Thorpe to Liverpool Street was a 150, i think it started from Sheringham ? , I remember one of the Norwich station staff, used to go though the train to do pick up the litter, I remember he told me once (or more time), that he should not be doing this, as customer was still on the train.
I think the DMU was used for the first train from Liverpool Street to Norwich, but as I was just doing night shift then (good old Anglia Railway forced the train cleaner to do only night shifts), I never seen it come back.

I was going to put this comment about a photo of a Class 150 DMU at Liverpool Street, on the 2130 Liverpool Street, london to Norwich thorpe service, but then changed my mind, but did not want to lose it, so put it here.

It was another normal day, the train service seem quite good today.
I was not very about being back at work & felt a bit strange all day.
After, I went to Great Yarmouth.

I took some photo of a First Group 170309 at ipswich station & the new painted LHCS, in the new National Express.

Entry for 18 December 2007 Mens hygiene
Entry for 18 December 2007 Mens hygiene magnify
Well, may be i am going to talk about my own hygiene ?
I think or felt when growing up, in the 70's & 80's, that men mostly smell like they worked, perfume was just for females (or men who was seen as 'gay' ? 'smells like a profs parlor '? something that said by some older men, to anyone who put anything with perfume on).

Now days, you can get men version of a lot of female perfume (but it mostly will not have that on it, still).
In the old days, with out hot water on tap, had to get a bath in the living room (or some other room) & fill it, not going to do that, many time, with working longer hours.
even washing cloths, I can just put my cloth in the washing machine, then after it done, dryer, can be done in two to three hours, with very little work from me.
Very easy & cheap, with only a little about of work.

About ten years ago, I used to shower daily at work, after the end of the shift, which seem ok, I would use the cheap shop at work, deodorant , but I would not do too much, plus I wear cloth at work for a lot longer with out washing (well, when I was at Grove Walk, my dad used to do all the washing, even when we had lodgers, he used to do there washing, they used to moan a lot about it, no being good , well they could of done it them self, but was too lazy, but I can not moan too much because so was I).

Now days, I have a bath everyday (help to live alone), I use shower gel (soap), face scrub, anti dandruff shampoo, after I use Aloe Vera body lotion (some time others, of the same range, also got hand soap in this range), M&S Woodspice body splash.
PreShave, aftershave (boots essentials only £1 for 150ml bottle), I also use other thing, like LACOSTE eau de toilette pour homme, Joop, Joop Jump, A*Men (ANGEL men versions, i think it used to called Angel too, or did I get the female version ? ).

Old Spice, Brut, Denim (or was that 'Blue Denim ? ) & some other mens after shave, there did not seem to be much around for men, & I do not think there was any versions of female perfume, for men.
Now, most places have a mens section of perfume (but mostly do not have that on the bottle of course).

I do not think I made much sense in this post, I did think about it first, when I was in the bath, but it has not come out very well.
still, my hygiene is very much better, than it was, in the 90's.

I also carry around with me, a bottle of 'Hand Hygiene Gel' / Instant Hand Sanitiser, so I can 'clean' my hand, if I can not get to soap or water (also when at work, carry in my bag, soap / hand moisturizing lotion & mouth spray to freshen breath), something I never used to do.
So it more easy to keep clean at work.
I use the hand sanitiser a lot at work, when I cleaning moving trains.

Arthur C. Clarke - Wikipedia

The Arthur c. Clarke Foundation

I got up very early today, my cats helped a little in that,
The £800M Railway Station was on BBC 1 NI (Virgin NTL 863) at 0245 to 0315 hours.

We join the project late - just as Alastair is discovering problems he noticed six months earlier haven't been corrected. While the engineers - led by bosses Allie MacAdam and Clare Carr - are preoccupied with bringing the project in on time and budget (and pocketing generous bonuses for so doing), Alastair is distraught.

This is the country's biggest railway project in 100 years and he's devastated that quality has been sacrificed for the sake of targets. He worries about what will become of this great project in 10 to 15 years when the cut corners will look jaded. "Nobody will want to do it again so it will just look like a sad little station," he says.

During one astonishing phone call Alastair has to hang up because he's in tears. He talks of resigning - even of suicide.

Shows like Grand Designs have made us pretty immune to construction cock-ups and you may agree with Carr when she accuses him of living in cloud-cuckoo land. But if £800million can't buy perfection then I'd want to know why.

With episode two screened tomorrow at the same time, it's a real eye-opener of a series.

Quote from link above.

My cats have spend most of last week & this, with me, in the bedroom, watching DVD's with me, even Jaguar, but sometimes it better when he in the main room.
So today feel a bit strange, getting up this early, when last week I was getting up, mostly in the afternoon or even, the evening, sometimes as late as 2000 one day i think ?
Well, I say get up, I was already awake, but just watched DVD's in bed, it stops me spending so much on food or drinking, wasting too much on heating.
But i still use electric, watching DVD's, I find it a bit too hard just watching the walls.

I got a bottle of Blue Energy eau de toilette (it was in the men section ? ), for £9:95, but got it free with two other item, I got as gifts from Marks & Spencer Norwich.
Strange how there is men & womens perfume (but never call it that for men ? ), still a little that men need to smell of sweat (even just washing they hand after going to the toilet, is too much for most men).
Also female perfume is very much stronger than mens (or they put a lot more on), as when your near a female going out (or some other times), you can smell the very strong perfume.

Sniffing around for "types of perfume" turned up the sweet smell of eau de toilette and eau de parfum, as well as other versions of scented luxury.

Most perfumes are complex combinations of natural materials, such as essential oils from plants, and synthetic products that increase the lasting power and heighten the smell. Alcohol is used as a liquid base for perfume, and the ratio of alcohol to scented perfume concentrates determines what the final concoction is labeled.

From highest concentration to least, the different forms of perfume are:

  • Perfume, also called extract or extrait perfume, can include 15-40% perfume concentrates. This is the purest form of scented product and is the most expensive as a result.

  • Eau de parfum contains about 7-15% perfume concentrates. This is the most popular and common form of perfume. It provides a long-lasting fragrance and generally doesn't cost as much as extract perfume.

  • Eau de toilette has around 1-6% perfume concentrates. This makes for a light scent that doesn't linger as long as the more intense versions. It was originally intended to be a refreshing body splash to help people wake up in the morning.

  • Eau de cologne is sometimes used interchangeably with the term eau de toilette. However, the concoction began as the name of a light, fresh fragrance mixed with citrus oils and was made popular by Napoleon. Some perfumers today have a version of this called eau fraiche.

While these are the main classes of perfume, other products are frequently scented with perfume concentrates too. Lotions, creams, powders, body splashes, aftershaves, soaps, and other cosmetic products may contain variable (though usually small) amounts of fragrance.

Now that you have your scents straight, we're sure you'll smell like a rose all day!

Entry for 17 December 2007 Monday Rest Day
I got up late today, forgot what the time was now ?, but I had my daily bath, read my mail, which was one Christmas Car from 'national express', with a £25 Marks & Spencer voucher ,'Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at 'one' and national express'.
Sounds like a card, that would be sent to a customer, still nice to get £25 of course.

I went out, payed £65 to Loyds TSB bank, this month payment on my loan, then went to Marks & Spencer, done some shopping for Christmas gifts, I think I got them all now, I used the £25 voucher.
Then went to Iceland, on StStephens, was going to use C0-Op on the other side of the road, but the food dept is very small, like a little newsagents, it used to be quite large.
I got food for this week, but not too much.
Then went round my Dad's, packed a few gifts, not long now.

Now looking at the news, just before going to bed, early, because I am on early Tuesday at work, something I find hard to do, wake up ?

Chink of light for Sheringham crossing?
Network Rail has told the Bittern Line CRP that it is happy to consider reinstating rails across Station Road, Sheringham as an “occasional use” connection. The link, which would be paid for by the North Norfolk Railway, would enable trains from the national network to reach the NNR six to eight times a year, according to spokesman Colin Borg.

Even with NR’s change of attitude, other hurdles remain: obtaining planning permission, defining safety measures for the crossing, and laying rails over what is now a ‘community garden’.

More ambitious plans to run Bittern Line trains into the NNR station on a regular basis are unlikely to go ahead

The Grand Hotel, Sheringham's finest Victorian hotel built in 1898, as part of new development following the arrival of the railway. It was demolished in 1974 and now has domestic housing on the site. The Grand Hotel dominated the sea front, an impressive looking building with two big domes, one at each corner at the front of the building.
Sheringham Community Paper
Both these hotels had ground floor ball rooms where, from the nearby roads anyone interested would stand and watch the dancers, dancing the night away, all ladies arrayed in their long and beautiful dresses and the men in their dinner suits, white shirts and black bow ties. The Sheringham Hotel, it had turrats on two of its corners overlooking the 'Weybourne - Cromer Road' and to the golf links. It was built in 1889 at a cost of £10,000. It was better situated for the golf links rather than the sea. It claimed it was the largest hotel in Sheringham. The other hotels were The Dormy, The Burlington, The Bijou (now The Two Lifeboats) and Southlands. Beaumaris was not a hotel at that time it was a guesthouse and at the opposite side of the street to where it is now).

Quote from Sheringham web page

I found out what the hotel name was, in Sheringham, The Grand Hotel.
The above I found out about it, we spend a week at this hotel, fro9m the photo, can guess about what year it was, I also think it would be summer time, too cold in the winter then.

I do not know what day the above photo was took, at Sheringham, with the old hotel in the background.
I can not remember the name of this Hotel, I think it might be the Royal Hotel ?
I can not find anything on the internet, which is easy to understand, as they is no hotel staff to make a web site & this hotel seem to be forgoting.
This post is very much more hard to do, than I first did think, it would be nice to know the name of the Hotel, it would of been more easy to find it, too, if any information was on the internet ? but I can not.
In the photos are my mum, dad, sister & grandmother (with her little dog) on my dad side.

by post today, I got the news at one staff newsletter December 2007 issue 21 & 'Tenant Talk', Norwich city Council winter 2007 newsletter, saying how great the housing Dept are, with leaflet 'Norwich City Council's Tenant participation compact', with lots of lies about how they let tenants influence they services ?

On the back page, is news about 'Unitary Bed Update' (page 11), as most from Norwich city council, they seem to think they got unitary status already & only they own opinion count as fact, everyone else do not, even the council tax payers / voters of Norwich & Norfolk.

As I have read delay in Ipswich council bid to become a unitary council, they was one of the nice, that got unitary, I do not think the evil Norwich City council have won yet.

They also ask for comments on this or any other issue.

Other than that, this has been a strange day, but every day is strange.
It feel strange not to know many people, but live in a city, Norwich is not a friendly place to live, mostly they do not talk to you, if they do not like you, so it not as bad, as some places, but it far from friendly still.

Most of the people I mixed with, mostly family, have past away or if not, I do not know, moved on (as I have ? ).
Better going & do something, like watch a DVD.

Thursday 13 December 2007 - 10:48PM (GMT)
Entry for 13 December 2007 Thursday Annual Leave Day
Today is the most early I got up, at about 1220 hours.
I am going to Great Yarmouth, may be on the 1336 Norwich thorpe to Vaxuhall.

I again wached DVD to the early hours of the morning, could not sleep.
Was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, season four.
It amazing how, the
characters in it, get throw about & knocked out a lot, sometime by a single blow to the head, without any lasting damage, in buffy case, or a vampire or demon, it goes with the story, but when a human ? I do not think in real life, they could do such a thing without lasting damage.
But that is Sci-fi, so it much more easy to do, but RAMBO is not Sci-fi, a man goes though a place, inavtes a place with a army & kill everyone, one man vs a army (or was that Commodore ? )
then there is the A Team, the bad boys get shot, car crash & come out, with nothing, just look a big dizzy & that is it, near the end, when when they the A-Team, they lock them up, with everything they need to break out & beat the bad men.
Life is so much easy on TV, you know what is bad, who are good & that good is better than bad & everyone lives happy every after ?

Better be going now

Dear Councillor

My apolagies for the delay in my responce on this matter.

With regards to the Repairs/recharge procedure when it comes to matters of vandalism although we appreciate that the Tenant is not responcible for the damage itself, it is their responcibility to report such damage to the police directly. The police will then investigate and once they have completed their enquiries will provide the Tenant with a CAD number.
From this point the tenant can contact us and we will take this number to place against the repair. Another alternative is that the police themselves will contact us for a statement and reclaim the costs on our behalf through the magistrates court. If this is confirmed with the police no charge will be raised against the Tenant for the repairs. Unfortunately as you can appreciate sometimes these investigations can take some time to complete the result of which may be that we raise an invoice for the repair work before we have recieved the CAD number, which I suspect is the case in this instance.
Moving forward with regards to recharges and vandalism we have a system in place where we advise the Tenants to contact the police in the first instance, however if the property is damaged in a way that leaves it unsafe or insecure we have a rite to repair obligation to ensure that the property is acceptable for the Tenant to remain within. In the instance where this is not standard wear and tear we are required to apply costs to the tenant initially.

If there is any further information I can provide with this matter please feel free to contact me.

Yours Sincerely

Chris Mepham

They have never reply to my email, I sent them, but I am only a "TENANT" to them, so do not matter.
I got a "Customer Satisfaction Survey" from Norwich City Council, the council that do not cares.
Like they care about anything what I will say, they just ignore it, like my email.
As for the above reply from the Council, I report the matter to the police, the police report to the council, the council then lie about it after.
Seems that Norwich city council can not tell the truth.

Tuesday Annual Leave Week

Entry for 11 December 2007 Tuesday
I spent most of the night & day, playing FIFA Football 2004 on Xbox, I say playing, but I am cheating
Just for the EA Sports Bio ? I only just notice this, mostly because I have not play this game very much, I got it cheap, with another game at the same time, I forgot how much they was, but I think from £2 to £5 ?
I even forgot where I got them, may be Morrisons ?

I played four hours night / early hours of today, but did not save it, just the game & user profile, I only found out after, I also needed to save EA Sports Bio ?
I got a win % of 91, played 45 games (I only won them, because I cheated & played myself ?, well my cats do not like to play games on the XBox).
EA Sports level 9, after 10 hours, 32 mins playing this game, well not playing, just haing the XBox on, the this game on it, all adds up, I do not need to in the room or my flat.
Before that, I was playing on the Sega Saturn, the last game I played was FIFA '97.

I still have not found the Alcatel phone.

I got Radio Ulster on my iMac, not using the Virgin NTL set top box, as I got the XBox using the same TV.
I got two letter, MBNA & A&L (MBNA), asking for information, I know I will be in debit for the rest of my life, I can never pay it back, well aprt from when I die, then they will get they money.

I did not go to bed, till about 0500 hours, mostly because I did not feel sleepy.
Still have not found that Alcatel phone yet ?

I was in bed till 1700, 12 hours, had a few strange dreams, but by now I forgot them all.
I did not go & see that movie, may be Tuesday, but that more on, if I sleep well tonight ?

I went to Morrisons, got milk for me and 24 (440ml) can of Carlsberg larger for £10, cheaper than bitter.
About 41½p each, or £1:66½ for four cans.
After I got home, with my M&S 'shopping trolley' bag, I notice the wheel small of smoking tobacco ?, after folding it up, my hand small like I been smoking too , well my left hand ?, I did not remember being anywhere near any one was was smoking, plus it was raining too.

Not got much planed for the rest of the night, phone my Dad soon, but a little late to go round.

Just watched Robin Hood, it ended 12 mins ahead of time ? BBC1 is showing show before they start time ?

I got up at about 1800 hours, I did get up before, but went back to bed, ear ache all day.
I just had a phone call from my Dad, feel like talking on the phone, make my ear ache worst.

I took the trash & recycle iten to the recycle bins.
I got a copy of Canal Boat (December 2007 £3:25), which I found when cleaning a train, last night I think ?
A story on page 13, is about TESCO, they started to use the Mersey & Manchester Ship Canal, for transporting of cargoes of wine, along a 40 mile route from Port of Liverpool to the company's bottling depot in Manchester.
The first load was on October 18th 2007, three journeys per week, estimated 600,000 litres of wine on each journey.
Tesco claims this will take 50 lorries off the M62.
They are looking at water transport options elsewhere, it says.
It has a photo of the 'Liverpool - Manchester Shuttle', with a banner 'TESCO LESS CO2'
