TSSA pay offer for general grades

TSSA pay offer for general grades

Hi Michael,

Further to my note last week on the ‘best and final’ proposal to the RMT, I am now aware that the TSSA have been given the same offer.

I understand that the TSSA are considering this offer before making the decision on whether to put it out to a referendum.

I very much hope that the TSSA leadership gives its members the opportunity to vote on the offer through a referendum as it is important for everyone to have their say.

Below is a recap of the main points of the offer. In line with the RMT offer it provides higher increases for those on lower salaries and includes a commitment to no compulsory redundancies until at least 31 December 2024.

  • An improved pay offer of at least 5% or £1750, whichever is higher, for 2022 and 4% for the 2023 pay award.
  • The 2022 pay award would be backdated to the relevant pay anniversary date and paid as a lump sum for grades collectively covered by the proposal.
  • Colleagues with salaries up to £30,000 will receive a minimum 10% increase over the period of the agreement, with some colleagues on lower rates of pay receiving up to 13%.
  • The proposals include a guarantee of no compulsory redundancies until at least 31 December 2024.
  • The creation of a new multi-skilled station role, with station colleagues trained and equipped to take on a range of responsibilities aimed at better meeting the needs of customers.
  • This would not mean the un-staffing of stations but would instead mean some colleagues being brought out of ticket offices and on to concourses and closer to customers, just like we do already at GA at stations like Bury St Edmunds and Harlow Mill.
  • Creating ‘station groups’ which make it easier for colleagues to move between local stations to help customers, for example where there are colleague shortages or where customers have accessibility needs and require assistance.
  • The use of part-time contracts and flexible working rosters and arrangements to help develop a more diverse workforce.
  • To meet the growing demand for weekend leisure travel, particularly on Sundays, current voluntary working arrangements across the railways will be formalised, helping to reduce delays and disruption for customers.

Further information can be found on our dedicated Industrial Relations page on GA Connect and you can also see what the offer means for you personally, by clicking here, which is a link to a salary calculator covering both 2022 and 2023.

As always, I’ll update you again once I receive any further updates.

Yours,

Jamie
