Origins: Built in 1958 at Eastleigh Works as a Type AZA trailer restaurant buffet car (TRB) for a Class 203 diesel-electric unit.

Conversion: Converted to the Southern Region General Manager’s Saloon in 1969 and renumbered to 975025 in 1978.

VIP Duties:

1981: Used as part of the Royal Train for Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer's honeymoon journey from London Waterloo to Romsey.

1982: Transported Pope John Paul II from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria.

1992: Formed the first train to travel into the Channel Tunnel from London Waterloo.

Function: Equipped with push-pull controls to operate locomotives, it is used for track inspection and line testing.
